Marriyan Hill is set to release her first book, “Life, Love & Loss: A Collection of Poetry,” marking a significant milestone in her lifelong journey as a poet. The book launch event will be held at the Diamond Bar Center in the Oak Room on June 29 from 2 PM to 4 PM. The venue is located at 1600 Grand Avenue, Diamond Bar, CA 91765.
Hill, a long-time resident of Diamond Bar, has spent years crafting and curating her poetry, drawing from her rich life experiences and unique perspectives. Her work offers an intimate glimpse into her world, presented through the evocative lens of poetry. She has also published a companion journal, “Life, Love & Loss: A Companion Journal,” designed to encourage readers to reflect on her words and pen their own thoughts.
“This collection of work has been a lifelong labor of love,” says Hill. “I have written and collected these poems over the years as I journeyed through the world. I would now like to invite you into my mind and how I see and process the world around me. It is categorized into three significant parts of our existence: Life, Love & Loss. With the companion journal, I invite you to reflect on my words and create your own.”
Hill’s poetry is more than mere words on paper; it is a tapestry of stories and emotions woven from the threads of her personal experiences and observations. “Life, Love & Loss: A Collection of Poetry” captures the essence of her journey, offering readers a profound exploration of the human condition.
In addition to her literary endeavors, Hill is the founder of Marreon Publishing, LLC, a company dedicated to bringing her works and those of other aspiring authors to the public.
Hill is also an active member of her community. She serves on the executive board of the Diamond Bar Woman’s Club and has recently been appointed Chairman of Arts & Culture. Demonstrating her commitment to fostering local talent, she founded a free monthly open mic event at Reborn Coffee in Diamond Bar, providing a platform for artists to share their work.
Professionally, Hill has dedicated over 22 years to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, Division of Adult Parole Operations (CDCR/DAPO), where she currently serves as a Parole Agent II, Assistant Unit Supervisor. As she nears retirement, Hill looks forward to devoting more time to her passions for writing and community service.
Hill’s educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a master’s degree in Administration of Justice and Security, both obtained from the University of Phoenix. Raised in South Central Los Angeles, she is a proud alumna of Susan Miller Dorsey High School.
The upcoming book launch promises to be a memorable event, celebrating not only the release of “Life, Love & Loss: A Collection of Poetry” but also the culmination of Hill’s decades-long commitment to her craft. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet the author, purchase signed copies of the book and companion journal, and engage in discussions about the themes explored in her poetry.
