“Enough to Make the Angels Weep by Ernesto Patino tells the story of Joe Coopersmith, a private investigator. Joe is hired by Carolyn Delaney to investigate the murder of her eighty-four-year-old grandmother, widow Dorothy Delaney, four years previously. Joe follows a few leads with assistance from P.D. Detective Danny Montoya, which directs him to hunt for a diary. The diary was written by a young Irish soldier named Kevin O’Leary who fought in the Battle of Churubusco in the Valley of Mexico before he escaped in 1847. The diary contains information on Colonel William S. Harney, a sadistic, brutal man in charge of the execution of Irish soldiers during the Mexican–American War of 1846–48. Raymond Harney Nielsen will do anything to get his hands on the diary and protect his ancestor’s reputation. Joe’s only option is to find Nielsen before more people are killed.

“Enough to Make the Angels Weep is one of the most interesting and intriguing historical novels I have ever read. The story is based on facts and besides being an educational eye-opener, it is also a great story. The variety of characters, both real and created by author Ernesto Patino, are all well defined and easy to relate to. While the story is filled with twists, turns, and many surprises, the smooth flow makes for comfortable reading and understanding. The well-written dialogue contributes to the story, most significantly the letters and conversations between characters. This excellent novel will leave the reader with a sense of accomplishment and fulfillment and is highly recommended to all adults who enjoy a thrilling, suspenseful story.”
